"Ruby" A quick little #intarsia project for my upcoming booth at the Wings & Wildlife Artshow at the National Aviary (Nov 5-6). All natural wood colors (no stain or paint!). Made with pine, ash, poplar, cherry, walnut, and a red piece of African padauk for the ruby throat. Note: the log underneath it is not part of the piece. Though it would be if I had a good way to cut the log (and dry it in less than a year. lol).
A quick and dirty #intarsia project I started tonight. I just wanted to get back into an actual art project (a relatively simple and small one, though scrollsawing some of those curves was a pain). I'll be doing the Wings and Wildlife Art Show at the National Aviary in November and desperately need new pieces, hence the hummingbird 🙂 This is just loosely arranged without proper depth yet. Shaping the edges will change it drastically too. Made with pine, ash, poplar, cherry, and of course a red piece of African padauk for the ruby throat. Beak and eye will be Walnut. #woodworker #woodworking #wip #bird #hummingbird
