This is “Dexter.” He lives at the National Aviary (go see him!). It’s my latest pastel pencil drawing. This is on 9.5″ x 12″ PastelMat and drawn with PanPastel and Gioconda Pastel Pencils. I’m pretty stoked with how it turned out!

Here’s a recent commission I drew (from a fairly blurry iPhone photo).
I finally completed my Carolina Anole! I digitally painted this using the Procreate app on an iPad Air (such a perfect bday/christmas gift from my fiance Tamaryn!). It’s based on a photo I took in Florida. It took about a month to paint, working on it mostly during my lunch break (and a few evenings and airport sittings). There are a million details I could fix and make more realistic, but I’ve hit the point at which I just feel like calling it done.
Finally getting a decent hang of combining PanPastels and Gioconda pastel pencils on PastelMat (oh and a decent amount of black and white charcoal for highlighting in this piece). I love this stuff.
